Don’t miss our latest webinar, “Understanding UEFI Testing”, taking place on January 29.
UEFI Blogs
The Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Forum’s members are some of the world’s foremost researchers in academia, eminent computer scientists, and technology leaders from more than 350 companies around the world. This blog will delve into many of the advantages of becoming a UEFI Forum member, from helping shape new market opportunities to meeting other innovators in the field, and many things in between.
The UEFI Forum recently hosted a new webinar as part of its educational webinar series titled “How to Create a Secure Development Lifecycle for Firmware.” Presenters discussed how, while firmware is software for your hardware, it operates in a different environment than most software, and thus vulnerabilities can have a greater impact. A secure development lifecycle can help combat these vulnerabilities and the associated challenges that follow an attack. You can watch the recorded presentation and view the webinar slides to learn more.
One of your customers’ top demands is probably security. Because of this, it should be the primary consideration on the top of every developer’s mind. But without a standard approach to security, it is nearly impossible to meet this crucial customer need.
As you may have heard, the UEFI Forum recently released the UEFI Specification, Version 2.8, which reflects many new and useful technology changes in the platform firmware including added support for REpresentational State Transfer (REST). REST is not an official standard, but rather an architectural style of networked systems consisting of clients and servers, and it defines a set of constraints to be used for creating Web services. RESTful Web services provide interoperability between computer systems on the internet.
During the latest UEFI Forum webinar, “The Role of Redfish in UEFI Forum Firmware Specifications,” panelists provided an overview of DMTF’s Redfish®, discussed implementation challenges, and explained how Redfish and UEFI platform firmware interact. In the Q&A following the webinar, panelists answered questions regarding a variety of topics, but weren’t able to get to all the questions in the time we had available. The questions below were asked by webinar attendees and are now answered by the presentation’s panelists.
